About BeLAA number of the UK's leading e-learning companies have joined forces with Wired Sussex to form the Brighton e-Learning Alliance (BeLA) , which aims to develop and promote the city as the European Centre of Excellence for e-learning . As well as having more graduates per capita than any other UK location, Brighton and Hove, the 'learning' city, is home to the UK's leading e-learning development and research community. Research, carried out by Wired Sussex and Brighton & Hove City Council in 2004, demonstrates that Brighton and Hove hosts an internationally significant e-learning cluster. The survey revealed that e-learning companies based in the city account for over 10% of the UK market share, worth more than £50 million per year, which is equivalent to London. With a strong focus on improving e-learning skills and standards, innovation and demonstrating the benefits of e-learning to a wide audience BeLA aims to shape the future of e-learning, ensuring Brighton and the UK is at its centre.
