Academy Internet Damovo
Case Study: live e-learning / corporate communications technology and training

Background

Damovo is a global telecommunications company with more than 4,000 employees worldwide.

The company previously used a variety of communication media including email, video conferencing and face to face meetings to communicate with each other but wanted to update its technology in order to:

•  enable Damovo's CEO to communicate simultaneously with all employees worldwide

•  improve staff collaboration and productivity

•  cost-effectively increase communication amongst employees

The new technology was important - but equally vital was the ability of Damovo's staff to use it. This required a training solution that could cater for thousands of staff in countries spanning four continents.

Damovo decided to source an e-learning company who could provide a blended solution of both technology and training support. After consulting a number of providers, they chose Academy Internet, Europe's leading supplier of e-business training, consulting and e-learning solutions.

E-learning solution

For Damovo's technology requirements, Academy Internet recommended Interwise, an award winning Voice Over IP based web conferencing technology.

To tackle the problem of training such a large number of personnel across the globe within a very short time frame, Academy Internet implemented a cost-effective, live e-learning solution to train 50 key Damovo staff to use the Interwise system expertly. Once this Train the Trainer approach was implemented, these 'super users' could then return to their own offices to train local staff. The knowledge transfer to within Damovo enabled self-sufficiency and reduced the long-term cost of ownership.

Faced with the potential complexity of time zones and language, Academy Internet grouped them into similar time zones and languages for the live e-learning training sessions, making the entire process as cost-effective and streamlined as possible.

Results

Damovo immediately began to save money on global conference calls and due to the success of the 'super user' model of e-learning, the system quickly transformed the communications culture of the organisation.

Users enjoyed the learning process and because of the 'super user' solution, they were quickly able to learn how to use the new technology in offices across the globe.

More than 500 meetings were conducted using Interwise in the first four months after installation and the CEO was able to communicate with all staff simultaneously which significantly reduced senior management workload and travelling time.
