Epic Learning Consultant selected for DTI US Global Mission

Alec Keith, Senior Learning Consultant with Epic Multimedia, has been selected by the DTI to participate in the 'Beyond e-learning' Global Watch mission to the US.

Comprising a small group of content and technology developers, corporate users and academics, the mission will exchange information with leading US developers, technologists and experts.

Steve Barden, Epic's Head of Consulting said, 'Participation in the mission reflects Epic Consulting's position as leaders in delivering effective blended learning strategies. It's a great opportunity to exchange information on technology, management best practice and business models, and will enhance our offering to clients as well as build relationships with leading US thinkers and practitioners'.

In particular, Alec will be looking to:

- Understand the latest research and innovations in m-learning and digital TV
- Identify best practice in use of games and simulations
- Exchange expertise in design and implementation of blended solutions
- Promote collaboration and partnerships with US counterparts

He will spend a week in Boston and San Fransisco, visiting a wide range of both corporate and academic institutions, including IBM, Harcourt, MIT, Stanford Research Institute and Convergys. Access to leading experts such as Elliott Masie and Josh Bersin will enable him to benchmark the UK against developments stateside. The Global Watch findings will be published in full later this year. Co-ordinated by Pera Innovation, the DTI's programme manager, they will include:

- A dissemination seminar in September, for up to 200 delegates from across the e-learning sector
- A Global Watch Service report freely available at globalwatchonline.com and reproduced in trade journals and publications

Global Watch missions are a key aspect of UK Trade and Investment's strategy for encouraging UK investment and promoting sales overseas. Independent research shows that for every £1 invested in Global missions, over £8 is generated for UK plc.

For further information on the mission, the September seminar and findings, please contact Alec Keith at Epic on 01273 728686 or email marketing@epic.co.uk.
