BeLA newsShortlist announced for the inaugural e-learning AwardsTwenty six of the UK's top producers and users of e-learning have been named on the shortlist for this year's inaugural e-learning Awards organised by e.learning age and the eLearning Network. The awards will be presented at a glamorous gala dinner at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington, on Thursday 13th October - the first of it's kind within the e-learning community. The shortlist is: These organisations have been short listed for one - or more - of the awards, in the following categories: Vaughan Waller, chairman of the eLearning Network (ELN), the UK's leading professional association for users and developers of e-learning, whose members helped to judge the entries and arrive at the shortlist, explained: "The primary objective of the e-learning Awards is to recognise excellence in the e-learning industry - publicly acknowledging the programmes, projects and strategies which have enjoyed the greatest success this year. "Crucially, the e-Learning Awards will recognise contributions through the eyes of learners themselves - the users - as well as the suppliers. In this way, we intend to present an awards ceremony that both recognizes unique, outstanding work and reflects the impartiality of the ELN and the Awards', Peter Williams, editor of e.learning Age magazine." "We are delighted," Waller added, "that AbilityNet has agreed to be our nominated charity for the Gala evening on October 13th. AbilityNet is the UK's leading charity bringing the benefits of computer technology to adults and children with disabilities and we hope that the evening will raise money for this worthy organisation."
